DIY Patriotic Tier Tray

STYLE ON A BUDGET

Article by Dori Turner

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, as we remembered the sacrifice the men and women of this country have made to protect America's freedoms. I am eternally grateful for those who have served and are serving. And to their families who have also selflessly sacrificed as their loved one served our great country.

I find I'm even more thankful this year for those freedoms we enjoy now that we are slowly able to gather with family and friends again. Since we're entering into the red, white, and blue season with Flag Day and Independence Day coming up as well, I thought it would be fun to kick it off with this DIY patriotic-styled tier tray!

I’ll be sharing a patriotic DIY each day on my blog this week, so be sure to check it out for some more inspiration! There will also be a corresponding YouTube tutorial you can check out if you’re more of a visual person!

DECOR ON A BUDGET

Everything (as always) was purchased on a budget. I found the faux fern, blue candle, flag ceramic bowls, and American flags in Target’s Dollar Spot.

I love shopping their Dollar Spot! It’s always full of super cute decor at amazing prices!

I found the sign and the milk jug at Hobby Lobby in their spring decor so they were half off. All in all, I spent about $20. Not bad!

I also found the tray awhile back at Hobby Lobby and you can find the tier tray here!

Some tips:

Measure your tray so you know how tall and wide the spaces are. This way you’ll know what size the items need to be.

Purchase items in varying sizes to add interest and depth. Choose a few small, medium and large items for your tray.

STYLE YOUR TIER TRAY

Layer tall items in the back, then medium sized items, and finally the smaller items. Reposition the items until you get them just how you want them.

There’s really no right or wrong way, it’s your preference!

I chose to place the tall “Home Sweet Home” sign in the back of the bottom tray. Then I stacked the ceramic bowls and placed them next to the sign.

I tried placing the blue candle on top, but it was too wide so it went in front of the sign.

On top I placed the faux fern and the tin milk can. It was the perfect object to use to hold my two flags!

Like I said, just play around with it, moving items around to see where they fit best!

And just like that you have a beautifully styled patriotic tier tray, ready for the season!
