Downtown Loveland is the perfect place to get your pumpkin fix this October

Betta Gumbo

What do you get when you combine the flavors and fun of New Orleans with a seasonal fall offering? Betta Gumbo is what! The downtown staple serves Loveland with Cajun and Creole food “as authentic as it gets”. Along with their amazing signature dishes, Chef Julian offers a creative take on fondue with a cheese that’s infused with acorn squash. This boudin sausage appetizer is, ideal for sharing,  and is served in an edible, roasted acorn squash along with chewy baked pretzel sticks. It’s a creative and delicious way for guests to be social and enjoy the flavors of the season. At Betta, being social is what it’s all about. According to chef Julian, the staff loves it when patrons make an evening of munching on food and sipping some of their signature, New Orleans inspired cocktails.

“We like it when people linger. We want our customers to feel like they can stay awhile,” Julian says.

Speaking of staying awhile, Betta Gumbo also offers another enticing Cajun staple— live music. As a way to offer patrons an all-around good time, Betta tries to have live music a few times a week. What sounds better than delicious fall inspired snacks, amazing NOLA inspired cocktails, and a lively atmosphere involving live music? We recommend getting there early, tempting your taste buds, savoring some libations, and staying for a little while. The Cajuns do have a famous saying,“Laissez les bon temps rouler!” (Let the good times roll!)

Pourhouse

Let’s say that you have just spent the day shopping for a Halloween costume or visiting a pumpkin patch. Maybe you’ve been apple picking or have gone out for a hayride. After all of that action, you’re probably ready for a deeply satisfying meal featuring fall flavors and a delicious seasonal brew. You would be hard pressed to find a better stop than the Pourhouse in downtown Loveland. Owner Chris Kline prides his business on being a place that is universally appealing and perfect for almost any occasion. And what a better occasion to visit the Pourhouse than enjoying their signature fall offering. The kitchen at the Pourhouse is offering a luscious coulette sirloin steak served with a pumpkin risotto. The steak is aged 35 days for exceptional tenderness and the risotto is creamy, rich, and satisfying with pumpkin in the sauce. This type of gourmet offering completed with one of their fantastic craft, on-tap, brews. Seasonal offerings that include Oktoberfest/Marzen beers and pumpkin ales on draft will be a great go-to as well if you really need to scratch your pumpkin itch. This meal is just as great for an elegant date night as it is for a family dinner after a fun-filled fall day. It’s just as perfect as a starting point for friends out on a Halloween-inspired evening, or for a great, comforting way to end the day.

You can’t talk about fall food in October without mentioning something sweet. Between the Halloween candy, apples, hot apple cider, and the pumpkin flavored goodies, temptations are everywhere. It’s fortunate that downtown has a dedicated place to satisfy your sweet tooth this season. The Cupcake Gypsies started out as a popular food truck before they made their operation a brick and mortar. As their name suggests, their main staple is cupcakes. Glorious Cupcakes. This October, they have crafted a home-run flavor: the pumpkin cupcake. This delicacy is a pumpkin flavored cake filled with a cheesecake custard and topped with a cream cheese frosting. Decedent doesn’t even begin to describe this cupcake. While they offer a pumpkin cupcake year-round, this specific treat is their featured cupcake for October.

The Cupcake Gypsies don’t stop at cupcakes. They also offer pumpkin empanadas, a seasonal take on a delicious, fried treat. If you really want to go big, they even offer freshly baked pumpkin pies. So, as you’re out and about enjoying the crisp weather this October, make sure you get your sweet pumpkin fix at The Cupcake Gypsies. Stop in for a treat or take something home for the whole family. The have so much more than just a cupcake— but what a cupcake they offer!
