My clients, Scott and Patti Scharf just completed a full interior remodel. The one feature that kicked off this remodel was their desire to install this incredible wall of retractable windows. These stunning panels of glass open the interior space to the exterior patio. July is the perfect time to celebrate indoor-outdoor living and decorate in patriotic style.
We created two sections of the porch - the lounge area and a dining/grilling station. The lounge area consists of a sofa, two swivel chairs and a firepit table. These defined spaces blend seamlessly and we just added a few festive accent pillows, an ice bucket on a stand and a few poufs to add additional seating. Of course, summer wouldn’t be complete without the s’mores tray!
The Scharfs already had a great color palette with the navy seat cushions and red umbrella, so we just brought in a few touches to give the patio a festive look and feel. We used their existing patio table that seats 6 as the backdrop. With the beautiful Colorado evenings, we wanted to add a few lanterns and candles to the table to provide ambiance. I have used these lanterns at Christmas time but by adding these patriotic ribbons they worked perfect as our table centerpiece. I found this moss table runner and thought it brought the balance needed to soften the table. Again, the galvanized plate chargers are a universal piece that could be used for any occasion but by adding our festive plates it made for a perfect layer for our patriotic table setting.
A beverage station is a welcomed addition for the homeowners and guests. Drink dispensers are an indispensable addition to the beverage station and provide options for both kids and adults. Staying hydrated in our hot summer heat so important. Adding fresh lemons, limes and oranges to your water gives that perfect boost of refreshment and adds a touch of color and class.
Family gatherings are not complete without lawn games. There are so many creative DIY games but here we went the classic Corn Hole game with our patriotic bean bags (found at Walmart).
Turning your everyday outdoor space into a place to celebrate any season doesn’t have to expensive – use timeless pieces that can be used throughout the year, add some festive touches for the occasion and always make it fun and inviting.
