About Us
Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado (AATPC) is a unique nonprofit State of Colorado Designated Community Mental Health Clinic located on a 3 ½ acre ranch in Arvada Colorado. AATPC’s mission is to provide and promote animal assisted psychotherapy to facilitate healing for all people in need, regardless of insurance or income, with rescued animals. Just 12 miles from Denver, AATPC’s beautiful urban ranch setting, professional therapists and 30+ rescued domestic and farm animals create a truly one-of-a-kind therapy environment befitting of the organization’s motto: Rescued Animals Rescuing People. Founded in 2010, Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado (AATPC) was one of the first counseling centers in the nation to integrate teams of professional therapists with a variety of rescued therapy animals to facilitate the counseling and psychotherapy process. The organization serves primarily the Denver Metro community, serving more than 350 clients a year, and is still growing. With a mission to facilitate healing for all people in need with rescued animals, no client is ever turned away for inability to pay.
