About Us
If art imitates life, then my art tells the story of my favorite travels, my observations of the natural world, and interest in experimenting with various media and artistic interpretations including photorealism, still life, and contemporary pop art. A third generation artist, came-of-age with a pencil in hand. As an art major (and varsity football player) in college, I amplified my natural artistic ability and honed my skills with new, challenging media such as oil, now my specialty. The challenge of blending colors and complicated brushstrokes into his photorealistic creations is one he doesn’t take lightly, and each project is the product of hours of studio time, obsessing over like a reptile scale or filament in a feather. Brett has traveled and lived from Alaska to Africa, Caribbean beach to trout stream, and his art reflects a journey well-traveled. A native and resident of Maryville, Tennessee, Brett seeks recreation and inspiration from the trout streams he fishes, the local caves he explores, and the trails he hikes. In 2020, it was only fitting that he established BRETT MISTAK ART GALLERY + STUDIO at the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. If your adventure takes you to Townsend, Tennessee, stop in the studio and say hello. My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
