About Us

We are a place of convergence for the exploration of arts and culture to inform, inspire, and strengthen individual and collective well-being. Our 2.6-acre campus includes studios for youth education, printmaking, ceramics, metals, fiber arts, native plant gardens, and an exhibition space. We provide hands-on classes, exhibitions, and cultural events on-site in our historic building and in local public schools. Located in Hōlualoa, Hawai‘i, on the slopes of Hualālai near Kailua-Kona, the Donkey Mill holds local significance. Constructed in 1954 as Kona’s first Kona Coffee Cooperative, the Donkey Mill has served as a place of convergence since its inception. In 2001, volunteers and artists transformed the old mill into classrooms, a gallery, and gathering spaces while maintaining its rustic charm. This transformation expanded the Mill's role beyond coffee processing to become a vibrant space for artistic expression, cultural exchange, and community building.
