About Us

Welcome to the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID), a 158-square mile area 25 minutes northeast of downtown Houston where more than 80,000 people in the communities of New Caney, Patton Village, Porter, Roman Forest, Woodbranch Village, Splendora and Kingwood call home! Nestled among the pine trees and palmettos, this quiet area northeast of Houston is host to robust growth and substantial development. The district’s success over the last decade is due in part to the vision community members had in 1997 when they encouraged state legislation to create the district. Voters approved EMCID as a taxing authority (sales tax) within its boundaries to develop and encourage economic and community development and to promote educational opportunities to residents in the eastern area of Montgomery County.
