Hopkins Center for the Arts

Arts + Culture

For over 25 years, Hopkins Center for the Arts has served as a regional destination for arts, culture and entertainment in Hopkins and surrounding communities. In the heart of downtown Hopkins, it offers the opportunity to enjoy many restaurants and shops within walking distance before or after a concert or event. Its amenities include a 715 seat theater, black-box theater, art galleries, dance studio, classroom, meeting and multipurpose spaces. Each season, the Center programs a concert series in our 700-seat theater, featuring national acts in a wide range of genres including indie, jazz, bluegrass, rock, soul, and country. Our visual arts exhibitions have grown to include international, national, regional, and local artists. There are 35 – 40 exhibitions each year. ArtStreet, our public art sculpture program, brings in 6 regional and national artists annually to display their work around downtown Hopkins. The Center also produces a number of signature events. The Sunset Series, a free outdoor summer concert series in Hopkins’ Downtown Park, offering a variety of music, from Salsa to Bluegrass, and highlighting many talented local singer-songwriters. Bring a lawn chair, friends and enjoy the music under the shade of the surrounding trees. The After Dark Music Lounge Series features emerging and mid-career regional talent in the intimate setting of the Center’s Black Box Theater. Artist Talks offer the opportunity to hear from artists about their work and inspirations. Additional workshops are offered throughout the year. The Hopkins Center for the Arts builds community through the arts by fostering creative expression, and providing artistic and educational opportunities for people of all ages. The Friends of the Hopkins Center for the Arts is a 501(c) 3 organization that provides financial support for Center programming. A membership program offers discounts on concert tickets, early access before tickets go on sale to the general public, discounts on Hopkins Community Education classes at the Center, invitations to events and exhibitions, and opportunities to show work in Member Artist Exhibitions. The Arts Center is also an ideal venue for your next gathering or event. Available for rent, from the 700-seat theater to our classroom, conference room, dance studio and other meeting and party spaces, our unique spaces give you plenty of options. Owned and operated by the City of Hopkins, the Center is home to tenant-partners – Stages Theater Company and the Hopkins School District. Many classes are offered through Hopkins Community Education. There is convenient free parking in the municipal parking ramp just ½ block south of the Center.
