Michele Ledoux Contemporary

Arts + Culture

Michele Ledoux is best known for using fire + wax to create contemporary abstract paintings using the ancient technique of encaustic. Her work has a heavily sculptural aspect, features uneven surfaces, cuts, cracks and chips; and often incorporates recycled materials. The work is neutral in palette, architectural in style and organic in process and texture and aims to reflect the artist’s belief that art is transformative—a reflection point and acknowledgment of how powerfully we can actively create our own experience and how form affects and informs both ourselves and our space. Ledoux's work is held in numerous private collections and has been widely exhibited nationally and internationally, garnering multiple “Best of Show” awards.
