About Us
The Sooner Theatre is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Sooner Theatre is Norman's community theatre, offering a full season of concerts featuring nationally known and diverse acts, live theatrical community theatre productions, performing arts camps and classes for children, and several youth productions per year. At The Sooner Theatre we host professional artists, including members of Actors Equity Association, to first-timers and foster performers from three years old and up. Our presentations reflect our mission, our image and ultimately they determine our survival. We embrace the fact that we are not a “Community Theatre†but “Theatre for the Communityâ€. The Sooner Theatre has volunteered time and talent to produce the Norman United Way’s annual Celebrity Sing event at Riverwind Casino, provides entertainment at Norman Chamber of Commerce events, including their annual banquet, works closely with the Norman community to produce our annual Christmas parade and much more. Sooner Theatre staff members hold positions on committees and boards including the Norman Arts Council’s Arts Roundtable, The Norman Chamber of Commerce, The United Way Campaign Cabinet and many more. The Sooner Theatre is proud to be not just Norman's community theatre, but a theatre FOR THE COMMUNITY. We rely on the generosity of individuals, companies and foundations so that we can continue to provide the highest quality theatrical productions, concerts and performing arts educational offerings. The mission of The Sooner Theatre is to change lives, offer diverse perspectives and create a cultural connection to the community through the performing arts and arts education. The Studio of The Sooner Theatre is Norman's premiere performing arts academy, located just across the street from The Sooner Theatre in Norman's historic Downtown Walker Arts District. The Studio offers performing arts classes and summer camps for children age 3 to 18, beginners to stage veterans, in acting, singing, dance technique, tap, hip-hop, improv, magic, and more!
