About Us

“Physical strength is the most important thing in life. This is true whether we want it to be or not.” - Mark Rippetoe. That is the first sentence in Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training—the foundational textbook upon which our training method at Starting Strength Oklahoma City is based—and it’s not an exaggeration. It’s something we believe wholeheartedly. You may disagree at first. Surely your children, your relationships, your career, and your passions are more important than how strong you are. But your physical strength is what allows you to interact with your environment. It’s how you get out of bed in the morning, play with your children, take an evening stroll with your significant other, carry groceries home for your family, keep your house in order, and engage in productive work—all things that bring your life meaning, fulfillment, and joy. The hardest thing about getting older is the loss of strength. As we age, we lose muscle mass and bone density (if we do nothing about it). We get weaker. We tire easily. Daily tasks become more difficult. And unfortunately, most people simply accept this decline in their abilities as a natural part of the aging process. They move less, slow down, and stop doing things they used to enjoy. Their world shrinks. But we don’t work with “most people.” Our gym is dedicated to those who have decided to fight the forces of entropy, to not acquiesce, and to do what is necessary to keep playing the game of life with gusto. Our mission at Starting Strength Oklahoma City is to make you stronger than you were yesterday. The sole purpose of the work you do in our gym is to enhance your life outside our walls, and we have a proven, time-tested, incredibly effective system that dramatically increases physical strength for every person of every age every time. We offer 1 on 1 coaching from the most skilled coaches in the fitness industry within a group training format. If you’d like to learn more about beginning the journey to a stronger, healthier version of yourself, visit our website or call us at 405-237-9380. We’d be happy to answer any questions you may have. Your physical strength is precious. You should protect it, and we’d love to help you learn how.
