Welcome to Whatley Wines: A Story in Every Sip Whatley Wines is more than a vineyard—it’s a home, a story, and a celebration of faith, family, and fine wine. In 2016 Tyler and Melissa Whatley, purchased a historic 1860s German homestead and ranch property. As they restored the old farmhouse, cleared invasive cedars to reveal majestic oaks, and unearthed vintage farming tools, they realized this land had stories to tell—and grapevines to grow what Melissa would soon call her “passion poured into a bottle”. Today, visitors can book a stay at Melissa’s Farmstead. A beautiful property with a chef’s kitchen, an outdoor kitchen, and 4 king bedrooms perched on a high spot of the 47 acres. Plus, there are 5 acres of vineyards with room for more. Every bottle of Whatley Wines tells an encouraging story. They began bottling wine in 2021 and there are currently 30 wines available. Over 60% of the wines are from Texas with a higher percentage coming from Texas every year. The Whatley’s purchased the DAV Hall at the corner of the property. This iconic building has been completely remodeled and opened as the Whatley Wines tasting room in May 2025. Whatley Wines is 4 miles north of Marketplatz on Hwy 87.
