Zócalo Cuisine & Tequileria opened in September of 2011 introducing Kansas City to fresh, contemporary Mexican cuisine focused on the intricate techniques of the Cal-Mex style, made popular across the nation by renowned American chef, Rick Balis. Zócalo - Mexican Cuisine and Tequileria offers an enticing blend of tradition and innovation that defies the normal conception of Mexican dining. Whether enjoying the open-air patio, the sophisticated ambience of the main or private dining areas, or simply relaxing in the lounge, Zócalo is sure to provide a unique experience you won’t soon forget. Serving lunch and dinner daily and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The Zócalo menu features salads, tacos, enchiladas, entrees, and desserts created and inspired by the Cal-Mex style of cooking. The menu is full of fresh cuisine crafted with a combination of imported and local, simple ingredients such as heirloom beans and fresh, corn tortillas to create a menu unique to the Kansas City dining scene. Fresh ingredients like these are just one of the aspects of Cal-Mex style cuisine. Cal-Mex styles tend to be healthier, emphasizing the use of genuine, unaltered, fresh ingredients including whole beans instead of fried, high quality meat and seafood, and authentic soft corn tortillas. More than 60 tequilas crafted with 100 percent blue agave are used to make handcrafted cocktails in the large open bar area. 100 percent blue agave tequilas are set apart from all other tequilas because they are only bottled in Mexico and contain no added sugars or colorings. Zócalo also heavily uses 100 percent blue agave tequilas in its cooking methods.
