Brad Williams says his home workshop is a refuge, a place he goes for a creative outlet. When he heard from two cousins, both teachers, that disadvantaged kids were struggling with distance learning he wondered if he could do something.
Watching the news one night he learned of a family in California building desks for kids learning from home. Many students lacked a dedicated space for attending class online, doing homework and keeping school materials in one place.
Williams looked online, found designs for the California desks, and went one better: he created his own desk design suitable for any elementary, middle or high school student. Using just plywood and pine lumber the Williams desk is larger, has more surface space and is suitable for students of all ages with any type chair.
The desks are unpainted so students may decorate their desk any way they want.
