BEAUTY SALON ETIQUETTE IN TIMES OF COVID

Depending on when your most recent hair appointment was, some things have most likely changed since the last time you were in a beauty salon! While there have always been some general etiquette guidelines for hair appointments, they are now more important than ever to insure both you and your stylist have a great experience.

Here are some things to keep in mind when you book your next visit!

Arrive Early

Your stylist's time has always been valuable, but now they may be required to follow new procedures that lower the number of clients they can see in a day. Be respectful of their busy schedule and give yourself plenty of time so you aren't stressed when you get there. You're getting a beauty service to treat yourself, so you don't want to rush it!

Follow the Salon's Safety Requirements

You never know who will be in the salon at the same time as you and what their medical history is or who they take care of at home. Plus, you don't want to make anyone's day harder than it needs to be by messing up the system they have in place. Be sure to check your salon's website or call ahead to find out if you need to wear a mask, fill out a COVID intake form, of follow any other safety procedures upon your arrival.

Know What You Want

Whether you are sticking with your classic look or trying something new, make sure you know exactly what you want before you sit down in the chair. This will help prevent any impulse decisions that you might regret, and it will allow your stylist to use their time working with you more efficiently. Either bring a picture or plan out how to describe what you want in advance so you can give clear direction and leave as little room for error as possible.

Tip Generously

When you schedule your appointment, go ahead and factor your tip into the price in your mind so you are prepared. If you have the means, consider tipping a little more than you normally would. I can guarantee your stylist will appreciate it, especially if they haven't been able to work the last few months. This time is definitely hard on everyone, but the more we pay it forward and take care of each other, the better we all will be!

Remember that everyone is doing the best they can. Offer kindness and grace whenever possible. And remember to give some grace to yourself as well.
