Ever since I was little, I remember my mom making a soft-boiled egg with toast almost every morning before she went off to teach and I went off to school. It always looked so fancy to me and difficult to make. I didn’t really understand how EASY these eggs are to make and how much my kids would love them!

You can find 100 different ways to cook an egg online (literally). I wanted to share my easy and straightforward method to hopefully save you a few extra minutes in your morning!

The Perfect Soft-Boiled Egg

Cook Time: 5 to 7 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Fill a saucepan with a few inches of water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the water to a rapid simmer and gently add one egg at a time. (I like to use a slotted spoon here, so I don’t burn myself).
  2. Cook Time: 1 to 2 eggs: 5 minutes (runny yolk) or 7 minutes for barely set yolk 3 to 4 eggs: 6 minutes (runny yolk) or 7 to 7 ½ minutes for barely set yolk
  3. Remove the eggs from the water with a slotted spoon. Run under cold tap water to cool slightly, 30 to 60 seconds. I pull apart the egg in half and use a spoon to scoop out the yumminess right into a bowl with toast.
