Although Leisha Lyman grew up “playing store” at her grandma’s boutique in Piqua, she never imagined she’d have one of her own. That is, until The Busy Bee Boutique opportunity presented itself.

Leisha, along with her brother- and sister-in-law, saw the potential of keeping The Busy Bee open when the original owner was moving out of town. “We recognized The Busy Bee Boutique as a successful shop with a loyal customer base that needed to remain part of the Loveland area,” she says. “Small businesses are an important element to what makes a community thrive—and we wanted to contribute to that.”

While the shop continues to carry a variety of all-occasion gifts—including some of the same brands that have always been there—Leisha has also introduced new products from other small or independent retailers.

“I personally love to feature homemade, unique and local products from women- or family-owned businesses you can’t find on Amazon. We want customers to know when they shop here, they can expect to find a unique gift that supports not only our local shop, but small businesses across the country,” Leisha says.
