It's time to decorate for the holidays! At Interior Design Studio, our entire team loves the process of decorating and designing rooms – especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas time. In this article, we have detailed ways to decorate and enhance two rooms of your home that will leave a lasting impression on your visiting friends and family members.

Decorate Your Dining Room

Let's begin by dressing your table for the season with Interior Design Studio interior designer, Katie Heinz. Here are some of her fall favorites from JK Gift Shop. Something that is important to remember here is that you don't have to stick with the same ideas year after year or wait until the big day to put out your seasonal centerpiece. Get creative with what you already have in your rooms then add decorative touches that last the whole season.

Start with a set of lasting candlesticks that every home should have, here we used a wood turned set. Then, layer in some foliage. Again, this can come from your year round accessory stash. For no maintenance, use artificial pieces or succulents, which do not require constant watering.

Next, stop hiding your serving ware in your cabinets only to have them make an appearance a couple days a year. Pull them out and let them be part of the seasonal decor. Cake platters are perfect for adding height to your foliage which creates more interest in your centerpiece. Buy a plate stand to make that stunning platter more of a piece of art.

Finally, add in the pumpkins, hoards, pops of fall color. Make sure to incorporate your room's color scheme as part of your tabletop decor. This was done with the mercury glass pumpkins and succulent colors. Also, nothing adds more warmth to a room than burning your favorite fall candle. The key is to make sure to buy one in a decorative container so it can become a part of the centerpiece.

The bottom line: Whatever look you are going for, these fall decor ideas are the way to get there.

Enhance Your Guest Bath

Create a welcoming environment for your guests this season by adding a seasonal bowl full of soaps and lotions for them to use during their stay. And don't forget to add the fun factor! Gnome accessories are a whimsical way to enchant the powder room for guests.

Also an easy way to bring in holiday decor is through seasonal artwork pieces. Remember to always coordinate the room color scheme with the accessories for a more finished look.
