Meet Our New Publisher

Greg Scott Takes The Mantel For South Dayton Lifestyle

As we say goodbye to Arielle Jordan, our previous publisher, we also get to say hello to South Dayton Lifestyle’s Greg Scott. Though born and raised in Illinois, this South Dayton local is excited to grow with the community Arielle has created.

Greg moved to the area five years ago and married lifelong-Dayton-resident Angela Scott. Since that time, he has felt right at home in the community. “My favorite thing about Dayton is how comfortable it has become so quickly. I worried that when people heard I wasn’t from here, that they would treat me differently, but that hasn’t been the case at all.”

Greg has a history of leadership and community. Through high school and college he spent much of his time writing for and editing local newspapers. After graduation from Southern Illinois University, he began working for its magazine (sent to over 200,000 alumni and friends around the world), and helped to found the Alumni Recognition Program. His leadership and communication skills have helped to inspire students as well as keep the campus and alumni informed of their community at large. He was also on the board of directors for his local Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois.

His family provides a lot of support and motivation on a daily basis. Raised by his parents to get good grades and be successful, Greg sees living up to expectations as a form of respect. When asked who he looks up to, he responded, “My wife. Through the challenging times of the past year, she has been an inspiration. She’s a respiratory therapist, so what was already life-and-death before has only gotten more stressful with COVID-19. She finishes her 12-hour shifts and comes home and is a wife and mother to us at home. I’m so proud of her.”

In his down time, you might find Greg at a University of Dayton basketball game, or cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes in football. You can also expect him to be first in line when Fraze Pavilion reopens for outdoor concerts or getting some sweet treats at Graeter's.

Arielle will always be our founder, but South Dayton Lifestyle has a lot to look forward to with Greg now at the helm. He is excited to continue helping readers feel not only informed about their community, but also connected to it. He hopes that as readership continues to grow, the magazine is able to highlight the most important aspects of not only South Dayton, but the surrounding areas too.
