How did you become a financial professional?
David Manley:
I spent 35 years as a commercial lender and bank president and now have eight years in the financial profession. This background has exposed me to the many challenges facing businesses and families. Working as a financial professional is a natural follow up to this background. I enjoy helping people solve difficult financial challenges and plan the future they envision.

Aaron Rask: I spent 3 years as a 7th grade social studies teacher. After budget cuts, my position was eliminated. My financial advisor at the time mentioned that teachers tend to do well as financial professionals, so after passing all my exams, I made the switch to teaching adults about their finances.

Tell us about your approach to helping your clients.
DM: We focus on the assets and liabilities that currently exist, the income that is available to invest over a period of time, and creating the retirement the person envisions. Sometimes the client needs help budgeting and saving, sometimes it is putting the money to work it the most tax efficient way, and sometimes it is creating a legacy for future generations.

AR: What we do is crystalize financial objectives and create strategies that can help you to achieve your goals.

What sets you guys apart?
DM: It’s two things, our education, and the tools we have to work with. I have an advanced certification in Retirement Income Planning along with more than 30 years working in finance. Additionally, we have access to a variety of tools and resources available from a leading financial company and insurance carrier. With this top tier support and our own professional experience, we have the skills needed to address our clients’ needs such as wealth accumulation and growth, protection of income and lifestyle, retirement income planning and long-term care needs.

AR: Dave and I really stand for the possibility of creating a lifelong relationship through mutual trust and respect. Every person we come in contact with we hope to put in a better situation. The asset we value the most is their trust. This is what sets us apart!

What are some common misconceptions people have about saving for their future?
DM: The biggest misconception is lack of money. We help people find the money in their budget and show them what it can become over time. As little as $2000 a year, invested over 40 years can grow to over $1 million.

AR: People often think they have to make changes or updates to their investment allocation whenever there is significant market turbulence or a downturn. We have found that time in the market is more important than trying to time the market. When we work with clients saving for retirement, we have a discussion about where they want to get to. Then, we put those goals into action with a strategy and allocation that works for them. If updates or changes are needed as their lives change, these are made after a careful assessment and discussion, not just based on market conditions. 

What motivates you to help people find financial freedom?
DM: Our goal is to help our clients become financially stable and achieve the lifestyle they desire. The greatest reward is seeing our clients achieving the goals they set and enjoying their life.

AR: There is so much negativity in this world and we are inundated with different information. It is difficult to find the right solution. Knowing that my clients see me as a trusted source and knowing that I am providing sound guidance motivates me.

Aaron Rask is a Colorado native and graduated from Broomfield High School in 2001. Aaron founded Summit Financial Solutions in 2016 after 6 years in the industry and has been named agent of the year for 4 straight years in Colorado. Aaron’s hobbies are coaching his kids in soccer as well as playing, golf and snowboarding.

David Manley began a career in financial services in 2013. David and Cindi enjoy skiing, CU Football and Soccer, and traveling. He was recognized for his community service with the 2020 Heart of Broomfield, Gene Frank Award and remains active in community organizations.
