More Wine & Cheese

Dear Science,

I need you. I am addicted to cheese, and my problem doesn’t end there. When I’m consuming brie or gruyere, my favorites, I must pair them with wine; the two can’t be separated. This is becoming a daily routine, and I don’t know that I have the willpower to stop. Please help.

Grieving,

Powell

Dear Powell,

Guess what? Science helps us all! The data suggests we need more blue and gouda and manchego! We need more cabs and merlots and noirs! Let’s take a look at the results →

*Cheese, by far, is shown to be the most protective food against age-related cognitive problems, even late into life.

*The daily consumption of alcohol, particularly red wine, is related to improvements in cognitive function.

"I was pleasantly surprised that our results suggest that responsibly eating cheese and drinking red wine daily are not just good for helping us cope with our current COVID-19 pandemic, but perhaps also dealing with an increasingly complex world that never seems to slow down," Willette said.

The data is clear. Drink more red wine. Eat more cheese. It’s worth it!

Sincerely,

Science
