Attaining a work/life balance is not an easy feat. It can be even more difficult in the summer for working parents with kids who are off of school for a few months. Despite the challenges, Jennifer Gaines has made it her prerogative to live a life of abundance and balance.

Seven years ago, Jennifer left a draining job in pursuit of one that would be more fulfilling and provide more time for her family. She landed an opportunity with EXIT Realty and quickly rose to the ranks of a top producer.

“Give me a recipe, and I am going to bake my cake,” she laughs. In other words, if Jennifer has a system, she’ll rise to the top. And, if there’s not a system, she’ll create one.

It’s no secret that Colorado is a hot housing market. Jennifer wakes up at 3:00 am every morning to ensure that her clients get access to showings of houses that are on the market. This detail is an expression of her secret to a life of balance: planning.

“You have to stay grounded and keep your priorities in place,” she encourages. For Jennifer, this involves sticking to a color-coded schedule. She blocks her time and creates intentional space for her family, herself, date night, and of course, business.

The hardworking gene is characteristic of the Gaines family. Jennifer’s husband, Jeff, is in the construction business and has built several custom homes. He creates the homes, and she fills them. Their two teenage children, Skylar (16) and Addison (14), are high achievers as well. Skylar just finished her sophomore year on high-honor roll and Addison just finished middle school with honors as well.

Thanks to Jennifer’s efficient schedule, there’s plenty of time factored in for play as well. The family recently purchased a home in Costa Rica and plan to spend some time in the tropics this summer. They enjoy all things water-related, whether it’s surfing, spending time on their boat, diving, or wakeboarding.
