What is Galentine's Day you ask? Our gal pal Leslie Knope from Parks & Rec coined the term after gathering her besties the day before Valentine's Day to celebrate female friendships.
"Oh it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies." - Leslie Knope
It's the perfect excuse to get together with your girlfriends and celebrate, even if it's different this year. Now more than ever, it's the little things we're going to look back on and remember fondly during this difficult time. This is also a great way to continue to support all the amazing local businesses in your area. Win-win.
Small gatherings are so meaningful - now more than ever - but may not always be feasible. If the weather's nice get some fresh air and host it outside! Personally, I wanted to treat my daughters to something special. Celebrating love doesn't always mean it has to be romantic. While I'm definitely a sucker for a cheesy Hallmark rom-com (aren't we all?), celebrating Valentine's Day comes in all shapes and sizes.
These amazing desserts were truly works of art. They were almost too pretty to eat, *almost*. Champagne bottle sugar cookies? Swoon. Chocolate covered strawberries + the XOXO box? All the heart eyes. Macarons and heart pops? Here.for.it! And who doesn't love champagne topped with cotton candy? Yes please! Pro tip: Make it kid friendly with some sparkling cider.
The cutest Mama + Mini bracelet sets would make the loveliest gift. Or treat yourself! Add some fresh flowers for an instant mood booster. The centerpiece blew me away with the greenery and varying pink flowers. Pro tip: Set up some smaller displays and send them home with your guests. The true piece de resistance was the balloon backdrops. Talk about 'gram worthy! The best part is they'll last a few days for you to continue to enjoy.
While the holidays may be over, it's still so important to support local small businesses and this may just be the tastiest way yet. Throw on your fave red + pink outfit, order some tasty treats, and enjoy!
