I am surrounded by many inspiring people. In Winter 2019 I was hired to take photos at a baby shower event, and that is how I got to know Sujeiri (I call her Sue and will use this nickname throughout this article). We stay connected on Instagram after that. It didn't take me long to notice 3 distinguishing components of Sue's life - a successful cleaning services company that looks different than all other similar companies around, a busy yet super colorful motherhood life with tons of fun activities planned out for her two beautiful daughters, and plentiful self-care tips on fashion, beauty, fine dining, and much more!

During the month of March, I saw a flyer that came across my feed about a First Annual Youth Empowerment Girls Career Q&A event at Colonia High School Youth Empowerment Club with Sue as one of the guest speakers. I have always wanted to know how Sue can balance them all. So I reached out to her to learn more.

Sujeiri Colon, owner of Luxury Maid Cleaning Services, LLC

Luxury Maid

Luxury Maid Cleaning Services is a fully insured company providing professional cleaning services to luxury residency 2,500 sq ft and larger throughout New Jersey. Sue started this company as a one-person team. Her family lives in a 6,000 sq ft house and she used to hire different people and companies to come in and clean their home. She has learned the deficiency with respect to various cleaning services along the way and still couldn't find that perfect company. So she started cleaning the house herself through self-learning. She strives to achieve that "magazine look", and therefore added the decorating and organizing elements to her cleaning routine. In addition, she decided to go all green and use 100% natural, eco-friendly products that are safe for kids, pets, and great for the environment. This is how Luxury Maid Cleaning Services was born.

Sue's company has now grown to have 12 team members and is expanding their services to Florida. In addition to residential services, they also provide commercial services such as to the Puerto Rican Association for Human Development, Inc. and KEF America.

Motherhood

Sue and her husband Gregg are blessed with two beautiful daughters - Marina-Rae and Shealynn. Life took a turn when Shealynn was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS). Sue is now often running around in therapy all day with the baby. The couple has strong faith and is enjoying the moments with their kids. They are thankful for the opportunities to work with some of the best specialists in the country and that wonderful advances are taking place, and new medications are up for FDA approval that will be life-changing.

Despite her busy schedule and now with therapy taking up lots of her time, Sue makes sure to take time out and take the girls around for all sorts of fun activities.

I didn't have these when I was a kid. My girls are my best friends and I am having so much fun with them. I want them to experience different things and enjoy a very happy childhood.

Shealynn's condition is giving Sue the drive to push the Luxury Maid concept to a higher level - a franchise model. She is hoping by doing so, the kids can have something to rely on when they get older, and this model would also allow them to have more time to provide better care for Shealynn.

Each year, Luxury Maid picks a charity or a non-profit organization and donates a portion of their sales to give back to the community and support a good cause. This year, they donated $10,000 to Dr. Miller in Florida for Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) research clinic.

How to Balance Them All

Balancing entrepreneurship and motherhood is a challenging task. When I asked Sue what her number one advice is, she said "Planning, planning, and planning".

Sue works with 3 planners and follows a strict routine. She blocks out her time and dedicates them to different tasks throughout the day.

Outsource is another tactic Sue utilizes.

Luxury Maid is a 24 hour job, so is being a Mom. I won't be able to do them all. I would outsource some of the tasks to others who I know would do a good job, and leave the ones I see as top priorities to myself.

Besides that, Sue also learned to layer the right tasks together and find synergy among them - for example, calling a client or update an Instagram post while waiting at the therapy session.

The last but not least, Sue shares that it is always important to practice self-care. Take care of yourself first so you can take care of your loved ones.

You can reach Sue on Instagram and Facebook to learn more about Luxury Maid's services or inquire about guest speaking availabilities.
