The 29th annual Colorado Governor's Art Show, one of the largest fine art shows to exclusively feature Colorado artists, has named its 2020 award winners. Grand Junction artist Jody Ahrens won the Best of Show Award for her painting, "Snowfields." Ten other artists from across the state took home Awards of Merit.

  • Parker McDonald “The Merlin” (Longmont)

  • Desmond O’Hagan “Broadway, Sunset” (Denver)

  • Scott Ruthven “Ascension” (Fort Collins)

  • Cathy Sheeter "Uplifting - Bald Eagle” (Aurora)

  • JieWei Zhou “Crystal Ball” (Highlands Ranch)

The award-winning artwork is juried by members selected from the Show Committee and judged on creativity, originality, technique, the quality of artistic composition, and overall appearance.

The Colorado Governor’s Art Show and Sale runs through Sept. 26 through Nov. 1 at the Loveland Museum in downtown Loveland. Exhibit admission is $7, and free for museum members. Tickets must be purchased in advance as part of the Loveland Museum’s COVID-19 protocols. Tickets to the show and artwork on display are available for purchase online at governorsartshow.org. The Governor’s Art Show is presented by the Loveland and Thompson Valley Rotary Clubs. Net proceeds will benefit Rotary-sponsored charitable projects and causes. One-third of net proceeds will go to the Thompson Education Foundation's Homeless Family Assistance Fund and additional funds will go toward scholarships for local art students.
