Entering Bloom by Anuschka is like walking into the most beautifully curated bazaar, filled with color, scents and objects that require inspection and tell a story. Anuschka Pashel has created an environment that instantly transports you without ever having to get on a plane. Through the traveling she experienced while modeling as a young woman to her voyages worldwide to find the most exquisite items from local artisans, Anuschka has honed Bloom's unique and personal aesthetic. Housing her floral studio and her home store all in one place creates a seamless experience that tells her story and offers the guests the chance to be challenged and inspired by what they come across.

Since opening Bloom, Anuschka has been guided by a sustainability principle that literally sustains the artisans who create the pieces for her shop.

"Most of what I source is handmade. I look for handmade textiles, handmade pottery, leather goods—that's an important criteria for me. It's really all about sourcing handmade things, and I prefer to work with people that benefit from us buying their products.''

In addition to buying from artists all over the world, she also collaborates with them. "I was in Mexico City last year in February, right before COVID. I went to the National Museum of Anthropology, and I photographed these antique Mexican vessels. I then sent the photos and detailed designs to one of my contacts in India that does hand-carved marble work. We worked together, and these marble pieces we worked on together are being delivered to Bloom this month." Anuschka's eye for design combined with the craftsman's technique is what makes Bloom so unique and eclectic.

This year certainly has come with its own set of challenges, but it has also helped her turn her eye to makers and artists in the U.S. and here in Colorado.

"I'm working now with an old employee who does pottery in Minnesota, and he drives a truck down with his work three times a year. There's a wooden bowl maker in Aspen, and he comes by the shop four times a year with his objects. You know, there's a lot of great things happening in the U.S. and Colorado, and I think that's important to highlight as well."

In addition to her amazingly curated and edited shop, her floral business has been a boon over the past year. A beautiful arrangement, done with skill, has always been the perfect way to brighten up a particularly tough time. Being able to deliver that kind of joy has been a source of pleasure this year for her and her team. In some ways, this past year has compelled Anuschka to slow down. She's been able to continue working with her contacts overseas via text message, which has allowed her to enjoy the "private oasis" that she has created at Bloom for herself.

“It's really all about sourcing handmade things, and I prefer to work with people that benefit from us buying their products."
