Savannah's Book Picks

Must-Reads for Your Snow Days, Slow Mornings and Everything In Between

The best part about winter is getting cozy—with a good book, that is! Oh, how I love a read that keeps you turning pages, drawing you deeper and deeper into a new world or a different time, with friends who are sometimes peculiar, somewhat mysterious—yet reflect the faces of our present. I love a read that ignites and intrigues. In the words of J.K. Rowling, “I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a book.”

I hope you’ll love these picks as much as I do.

Happy Reading!
Savannah

  • Finlay Donovan Is Killing It by Elle Cosimano

    • I couldn’t put this mystery down! No, really—I read it in fewer hours than I should probably admit. The best part? It’s the author’s first book of a brand new series!

  • Cormoran Strike Series by Robert Galbraith

    • Hands down, would (rather, will) read each book in this series again. The characters are incredibly realistic and you’ll feel like you’re living in their mystery-shrouded world. The Cuckoo’s Calling is the first book in this series.

  • The Lying Game by Ruth Ware

    • If you enjoy a book with a twisty plot, you won’t be disappointed by Ruth Ware’s The Lying Game. It’s a page turner that will constantly keep you questioning its characters and who can and cannot be trusted.

  • To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper E. Lee

    • Okay, okay. You read it in grade-school. But have you re-read it recently? You may very well be surprised at how much you learn from the timeless characters and the plot itself. (I’ve read this book countless times and enjoy it as much as I did all those years ago.)

  • Eyes That Kiss In The Corners by Joanna Ho, Illustrated by Dung Ho

    • This book first caught my eye because I grew up with an Asian sister. She, like the character in this beautifully illustrated book, has gorgeous almond-shaped eyes. After reading this story to my three children once, it earned a special place on our bookshelf.

  • The Whole-Brain Child: 12 Revolutionary Ways To Nurture Your Child’s Developing Mind by Daniel J. Siegel, M.D. and Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D.

    • This read is revolutionary, to say the least. Understanding your child—from tantrums to emotions to logic—is key to positive and progressive parenting.
