Sparkle More Stress Less

Have Your Home Holiday Ready in a Jiff

The thought of getting the house in shape for the holidays can send even the most organized person over the edge.

Sandra Garcia, of Sandra’s Cleaning and Organizing, says, “Don’t stress. This is a time of joy! It doesn’t have to overwhelm you if you make a plan.” Do one task per day leading up to the holidays. That way, it all gets done, and you haven’t even broken a sweat.

Beyond cleaning, set yourself up for success by organizing your needs for the holiday cooking and baking and gift wrapping and storing. Hiring a professional organizer is a worthy investment for those who would like a more functional environment.

Sandra says, “Organizing for me is like doing a puzzle. It doesn’t come easy for many people, but I love finding the perfect solution.  I help people fall in love with their homes again!”

Tip 1 The kitchen is the perennial gathering spot and you’ll want to use most of your elbow grease here. Use degreaser on the stove top to start followed by Easy-off in the oven. A quick wipe and polish of all counter tops and fronts, finishing up with a sweep and mop and your kitchen is ready for the party.

Tip 2 Be sure the powder room sparkles by scrubbing the bowl and sink since this room is going to have a lot of use. Sandra says to use room diffusers to calm unpleasant odors, especially in the powder room and be sure to have soap; clean, seasonal hand towels; and extra paper products handy. Attention to detail is what makes the difference.

Tip 3 A final dusting of flat surfaces, including light fixtures, blinds and window ledges and a vacuuming will ensure that your home is guest ready.
