Time For Spring Cleaning

March kicks off the season when we start clearing out our winter clutter.

Spring is just around the corner, the time when we can throw open the windows to let some fresh air in … and maybe notice that the windows are dirty after the long winter.

The ritual of spring cleaning can be a daunting task, especially since most of us have spent a lot more time at home this past year.

Maybe 2021 is the year to treat ourselves to a little cleaning help?

For Juan Chaves and his family, owners of Auntie Bella LLC, a cleaning service company, springtime is one of their busiest seasons.

“Springtime and holidays are very, very busy for us,” Juan says. “During spring we have specials going on, we like to offer a 20 to 25 percent off special for residential and commercial cleaning.”

Customers, he says, can opt for recurring cleaning services either weekly, biweekly or monthly; or they can purchase a one-time cleaning visit that can cover everything from a deep, full home cleaning or specific cleaning services.

“We have a little bit of everything, one-time cleanings, move-out cleanings, move-in cleanings, power washing windows, you name it. We have regular customers who have been with us for many, many years."

Family owned and operated since 2000, Auntie Bella is based out of Chesire but covers the entire state. Family members manage their own divisions based on the state’s counties. Juan manages the Hartford and New Haven counties, which covers Glastonbury and surrounding towns.

With the pandemic, Auntie Bella initiated specific COVID protocols for both their employees and for aspects of their cleaning regimen inside homes and businesses.

“We keep a daily log of staffers’ temperatures, we look for any signs of illness. Everyone has to wear gloves and all equipment and products get sanitized. And we obviously wear masks. Inside we heavily disinfect when we clean and we give special attention to high touch areas: knobs, door hands, countertops."

In addition, Juan now also offers clients the option, at the end of every cleaning, of having their home disinfected using a special biohazard fogging machine that kills bacteria and specifically the SARS-COV2 bacteria which causes the COVID-19 virus.

Normally used in hospitals, schools and other commercial applications, Juan says he purchased one of the devices for residential uses.

Before discounts the company’s regular rates are about $100 per hour, which includes the cleaning services of two employees. Auntie Bella also offers specific services, such as power washing the exterior of homes and hand cleaning windows.
