Nickie Crow
candlemaker
Candles are a guilty pleasure for Nickie Crow. They set the mood for the environment, evoke memories and can lift the spirit. In 2010, after her favorite candle shop closed, she began making her own candles by choosing unique scents and hand-pouring each one. Soon after, she launched her own line of stylish, hand-poured candles called The French Market Candle Company. Some of her favorite scents include oak moss and amber as well as her signature French Market scent. Nickie’s greatest joy is seeing her customers experience her candles in their own homes.

Steve Miller
educator & woodworker
For Steve Miller, the more weird and quirky the project, the more happiness it brings. Steven, a scroll saw artist and head woodworker at The Imagination Woodshop, crafts one-of-a-kind wooden puzzles in his Cypress shop. His designs include cleverly-crafted safari animals, trains, the state of Texas and even a nativity scene that doubles as an advent calendar. Steve likes to involve the whole family in his work. His father sands the puzzle pieces and Steve’s daughter creates her own wooden pens. He likes to say the art of woodworking is not magic but rather hard work.
