Michelle Gullickson always dreamed of owning her own fashion boutique. Once her children were grown, she fulfilled that lifelong dream by launching Three Cords Boutique, a Cypress-based online women’s clothing boutique that offers trendy Southern chic outfits. Styles range from flirty dresses and skirts suitable for a date night to comfy cardigans. Their typical customers are college-age women who are looking for clothing that they wear and feel confident.
The store is completely family-owned and operated. Michelle’s husband, Ken, is the CFO while her three daughters Paige, Piper and Peyton model the clothing and help with marketing.
The daughters are Cypress natives who grew up dancing at Cy-Woods High School. Three Cords Boutique operates almost exclusively online, but at least a few times a year sells at area high-school dance competitions to help raise money for local dance teams.
The store name draws inspiration from a Bible verse in the book of Ecclesiastes which references a cord becoming stronger when it’s made of three strands. The family hopes their name will send a message of strength and the importance of bonds between family members and friends.
“We have three sisters and our bond will never be broken,” says Piper Gifford, who manages marketing for Three Cords Boutique. “It’s just to put a message out there that when you have love between you and others, that bond is so great, it’s hard to be broken.”
Three Cords Boutique likes to add personal touches to its customer service. They help guide customers through outfit selection and write hand-written thank you notes with every order.
