Twenty-eight district wrestlers earn medals at CFISD Invitational

The Cy-Ranch High School girls’ wrestling team placed first overall in the 20th annual CFISD Invitational, scoring 157.5 points, giving the Mustangs five top-four finishes in the last six invitationals. Twenty-eight CFISD wrestlers won medals in their respective weight classes at the tournament.

45 CFISD Musicians named to TMEA 2022-2023 All-State Ensemble

Forty-five CFISD high school music students earned All-State honors through the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) audition process. Students competed locally and advanced through rigorous rounds of competition to earn this performance distinction; All-State honors is the highest distinction a Texas music student can receive. Approximately 1,875 students were selected for the honor out of more than 70,000 students state-wide. The students have been invited to the TMEA Conference to work with world-class conductors to present All-State concerts. 

Culinary Arts Students Compete in sixth CFISD Cupcake Battle 

Cy-Ridge junior Manmut Libam-Libock and Cy-Ranch sophomore Travis Huggins won first place in their respective divisions at the sixth annual CFISD High School Cupcake Battle. The competition featured more than 60 entries from all 12 CFISD high schools, judges were industry professionals, CFISD culinary arts alumni and local bakers joined by CFISD staff members. Judging categories included overall taste and design, Best Cake, Best Frosting, Most Unique Flavor, Most Advanced Technique and Best Presentation. 

Athletes sign letters of intent on December 2022 signing day 

Twelve CFISD athletes signed letters of intent to play collegiate athletics on National Signing Day. For Division I football the following CFISD athletes signed or plan to sign letters of intent: 

Bridgeland High School: Reid Mikeska, University of South Carolina. 

Cy-Falls High School: Chase Edwards, University of Louisiana; and Obinna Okeke, Louisiana Tech University. 

Cy-Ranch High School: Christian Brathwaite, Louisiana State University; and Jarred Sample, Kansas University. 

Cy-Springs High School: Jayven Jackson, Prairie View A&M University. 

Cy-Woods High School: Terrance Green, University of Oregon; Dylan Rogers, University of Nebraska; and Jahiem O’Hara, Prairie View A&M University. 

Jersey Village High School: Reagan Gill, Southern Methodist University. 

Langham Creek High School: Donovan Bynum, Southeastern Louisiana University; and Jaquaize Pettaway, University of Oklahoma. 

CFISD dance students selected to the Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA) 

The following 12 CFISD students were selected as TDEA All-State members from across Texas.
