Who gives life to kids cartoons? How does a cartoon go from a sketch on a page to a walking, smiling, laughing unforgettable character? That’s exactly the calling of Robert Paul Jr., a longtime children’s book illustrator, character designer and animator. Robert, along with his wife and fellow artist Danaka Gordon, own and operate SteadFast Entertainment. The media company creates illustrations for and about children. Their mission is to impact children with positive messages that add to their childhood experience, Danaka says.
“Just adding to that childhood wonder that they have is the end goal,” says Danaka, who also animates for a popular children’s web series.
Robert, a professional artist for 12 years, creates art for independent book authors, filmmakers and major toy brands such as Hatchimals. His whimsical, memorable designs can be found in major bookstores and popular web cartoons. Many of his characters tell a story about children’s everyday adventures. Others are Christian-themed and popular among church teachers.
“I do every project like I’m doing it for God,” Robert says. “That’s what keeps me going.”
The company does custom illustrations, commissioned portraits and design work. SteadFast is accepting new clients by appointment only.
