Destin feels like small-town fishing village but is actually part of Florida’s Emerald Coast and the principal city of the Crestview–Fort Walton Beach–Destin, Florida, metropolitan area, known for its sugar-white sand beaches and emerald green water. It’s also home to The Henderson Beach Resort & Spa, which is reminiscent of luxurious coastal hotels of days gone by with all the modern conveniences you expect from a resort today.

The Resort

The Henderson features a four-story, 170-room resort adjacent to the 200-acre Henderson State Park nature preserve. Choose from well-appointed guest rooms and suites complete with large soaking tubs and sitting rooms, or loft condos available for weekly and monthly rentals, each offering spacious and comfortable accommodations.

The property boasts separate family and adult pools, beautiful gardens, four bars and lounges, relaxing day spa, as well as fine and casual dining. You’ll also enjoy private beach access a short walk from your room.

The Workout

Whether you regularly workout or are an exercise novice, there are fun fitness activities for everyone and some that will challenge the fittest visitors.

The Henderson offers an array of yoga classes intended to leave you feeling refreshed, with reduced stress and a sense of well-being. Enjoy Beachside-, Sunset-, or Full Moon Yoga while you listen to the waves wash upon the sand. Paddle Yoga is for more experienced practitioners who will show-off their favorite poses on a paddleboard in the adult pool. Novices might prefer Gentle Yoga or Beachside Meditation. All classes are complimentary for resort guests.

Exercise junkies are in for a treat because The Henderson offers several unique and demanding choices to get your extreme workout on! SURFSET® classes have you draw on balance and strength to complete the surfing-inspired workout on a board that moves as if it were on the ocean. Pedal through challenging drills and exercises while you enjoy the breathtaking view from the hotel’s roof during Rooftop Cycle classes. Paddle Fit has you perform isometric and core exercises as you balance on a paddleboard. Or try the Beach Boot Camp, which is designed for the ultimate whole-body calorie burning and toning workout.

For those who like to exercise on a smaller scale, start your day or end your evening with a brisk stroll around the property or along the gorgeous coastline. And don’t miss the Guided Paddleboard experience exploring the beautiful clear Gulf water and wildlife.

Classes excluding yoga range in pricing and last 50 minutes. Consult the activity guide when planning your trip as it changes monthly.

The Spa

Plan a day to enjoy the Salamander Spa, a 10,000-square-foot oasis of relaxation and rejuvenation. The spa offers four signature core treatments designed to provide a full-body wellness experience including head to toe exfoliation, massage, and restorative treatments that conclude with healing oils and a floral water spritz.

You can also choose from a variety of bespoke massage, skin care, beauty and detoxification treatments designed to leave you feeling restored and revitalized. The spa also offers various treatments specifically for men and His and Hers romantic experiences you can enjoy together allowing you to relax and reconnect in a Zen-like atmosphere.

The Food

Exquisite cuisine and five-star service at the resort’s dining options are available from each of the four restaurants. Each offers its own vibe, while combining Destin’s local flavors, fresh sea-to-table dishes as well as an abundance of other options to please any pallet.

Enjoy understated, yet fine dining and panoramic views of the Gulf and Henderson State Park at Primrose, featuring Executive Chef Gary Palm, who employs 25 years of international experience including French, Asian and Indian cuisine to create a delectable menu. If you like sushi, culinary specialist, Chef Hieu Nyugen’s menu features daily specialty rolls and unique type of Japanese omelet made by rolling together several layers of cooked egg.
