Jeweled Legacy is expanding their passion for family heirlooms.

New location, old jewelry, same skill in restoring beloved pieces of jewelry.

For the past 12 years, William and Renee Huff have been working in a welcoming though small space bringing treasured jewelry back to life and creating new pieces from nostalgic items. In their new location, they have taken things out of the vaults, plan to offer classes and hold events.

Jeweled Legacy is now at 7635 Quivira Rd. Shawnee, Kansas 66216, only a few blocks away from their original location.

“It's kind of funny that we found a place so close,” Renee says. “We did a lot of driving around and looking at properties, but it turned out that the perfect spot was within walking distance. Talking to the property manager, we found out his father had built the building and he was managing it for his dad. That it was another legacy cinched it.”

She shares that this move has been an interesting group effort. “Our customers voted on paint and floor colors. They scouted locations. Several of our customers stepped in and helped us move, paint and organize. They really wanted us in a bigger location. My husband would joke that we only had three percent of our jewelry out! In the process of moving, I began to wonder if he wasn’t right. Our new location has 17 additional display cases. We also have room for events and classes.”

Previously, they offered classes through the Communiversity and used whatever space they had available. Now, they can share their wide knowledge base about jewelry with classes in several different areas of interest. Of course, history, because that's what they specialize in, including the Jewelry in History series they previously offered through UMKC's continuing education program. They will also include hands-on classes for making jewelry and identification classes so people will know what they are buying, whether it’s old or new.

Renee understands all too well the changes Covid placed on many businesses and feels fortunate to have been able to take limited appointments.

“Availability for many items is still an issue. We even ran into that moving. The flooring we picked out was supposed to be in stock, but their inventory count was off by 60 boxes. It was a crazy whirlwind to get everything done, but we wouldn’t change a thing. The new location is beautiful, and the outpouring of help and love from the community has been humbling. We appreciate everyone who has helped us grow and look forward to many more years with old and new friends!”
