The frenetic pace of today’s tech-laden world takes its toll, but for those entering Salon & Spa De Crist, owner Janel Schick seeks to provide a respite for restoration and rejuvenation. “We live life fast, full of deadlines, projects, and activities; our calendars are packed with things we enjoy but can leave us feeling a bit poured out, so my desire is to have a place where we can spoil you and once you’ve left the spa you can show up as the best version of yourself,” she says.
With 20 years in business and celebrating two years in the fully renovated downtown Lee’s Summit location, Schick hopes she’s created the perfect atmosphere for both individuals and groups. “From the moment you enter the spa you should feel soothed. Our spa colors and textures were carefully selected to create a cozy feeling, mixed with soft rugs, throws and an aesthetic that always has our clients commenting on the how great the ‘vibe’ is.”
Educating clients on the importance of regular skin and self-care is an integral part of Schick’s mission. “Massage benefits are powerful. Not only does massage therapy improve sore muscles and stress levels, it contributes to better sleep, better blood flow, and aids in removing toxins,” she says. “Our goal at SSDC is to help folks reset their stress.”
Closed for regular business on Saturdays, private spa parties have become a big hit. “We love hosting birthday parties, retirement parties, and bachelorette parties. This allows girlfriends to get together in a private safe space and enjoy a spa day together! We’ve created a really special team of professionals who can deliver optimal results whether it is skincare, body waxing, or custom massage. Our amazing spa pros can handle anything you are looking for!”
Guided by her faith, Janel Schick says she has worked to create a safe space for individuals to come and find rest and healing through professionals who are integrity filled, safe, and servant minded. “I feel the Lord has called me to use my tools and resources to create a safe space for healing, and I hope that no matter who you are, when you’re ready to take a ‘recess’ from the reality of life, you will choose us. You will feel refreshed, loved, and ready to take on the world after spending time in our spa!”
