Ring in the New Year in style at The Mercury Room located in downtown Kansas City. This new high end cocktail bar has it all, from sweeping views of the Crossroads, an extensive drink menu and elegant seating, all while under dreamy starry lights.
The Mercury Room is designed and owned by the creators of The Monarch Bar on the Plaza and Verdigris in Leawood, David and Noelle Manica.
“I am an architect that designs stadiums and arenas around the world,” says David. “My company has recently completed the design of the new Allegiant Stadium for the Raiders in Las Vegas, and the Chase Center for the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco.”
“I’m a professional model signed with agencies in six different cities around the country including Kansas City, St Louis, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Nashville,” says Noelle. “I’m the founder and owner of The Model Board here in Kansas City, a collaborative company established to offer development, training, coaching and mentoring for models and talent in the Kansas City area. I’m also the director of model development for Kansas City Fashion Council, Inc., and the model development coordinator for Kansas City Fashion Week. My corporate background involved marketing, branding and sponsorships for the NFL Houston Texans, Union Station Kansas City, and American Century Investments. Side note: credit for the design of the bars rests solely with David—he has the incredible vision, talent, patience and finances to make these bars a reality for Kansas City. I get to claim credit for naming them.”
“I was first motivated to bring The Monarch Bar after traveling internationally for years,” David says. “During my travels for both work and pleasure, I would often frequent many of the most famous luxury cocktail bars in the world. Coming home to Kansas City, I realized that we did not have anything that would nearly compare. So, I decided to invest in the creation of The Monarch Bar, which opened in 2017. After seeing The Monarch Bar’s great success and the welcome and support that it enjoys from the city, I felt confident in opening a second bar in the Leawood area with my partners Christian Moscoso and Brock Schulte. Verdigris opened in June of this year, 2020, and we were approached by the owners of the new Reverb apartment towers (Copaken Brooks) to own and operate a new high-end bar on the 14th floor of the project located at 18th and Walnut in the Crossroads. We were intrigued by the location and the spectacular view.”
If it’s your first time visiting, an unforgettable experience awaits you.
“The menu and atmosphere is really unlike anything else in the world. The entire cocktail menu will be an experience to try—I’m sure the guests will each have their own favorites! The entire perimeter of the room has been lined with windows and mirrors, creating a 360 degree atmosphere of both real and reflected views of the skyline. The ceiling accommodates over 9,000 small LED lights that simulate a starry sky. The end effect results in the guest feeling as though they are floating above the city, with views all around, under a beautiful starry sky.”
New Year’s Eve at The Mercury Room will be one for the books.
“I know we are all ready to say goodbye to 2020! To compliment the special atmosphere and drinks and to celebrate the occasion, we are flying in a DJ from Los Angeles to play in the room on New Year’s Eve. It will be a spectacularly beautiful and memorable way to say hello to a much welcomed New Year!”
“The Mercury Room has a strictly enforced dress code. On New Year’s Eve, Noelle and I will be wearing custom fashion, both clothing and jewelry, from our favorite designers and tailors.”
Whether you choose to celebrate out on the town in cocktail attire at The Mercury Room or at home with family, ring it in with style. This year's New Year's fashion is all about sparkles and sequins and we have some of the hottest trends to share with you from vendors and boutiques around KC.
