Kilo Club is just what 2020 called for – a new era gym for health, wellness, and fitness. Formerly David Barton Gym, this reimagined multipurpose gym is an experience that includes capped memberships for adults 21 and older, 24/7 secure access, and a med spa and meditation room.
Local owner Jea Jung has created a subculture on the west side, where the swagger of a nightclub meets the motivation of a well-equipped fitness center in the middle of Tivoli Village’s grand Mediterranean-style development.
Jea’s fitness expertise runs deep from his early days in martial arts, to being a four-time Heavyweight Champion in bodybuilding and powerlifting. His fitness journey continued as he served pro athletes and moved from the east coast to Vegas to serve fitness communities at the highest level by developing premier facilities.
Nearly 10 years ago, Jea founded famed City Athletic Club, which catered to the hard-core bodybuilding universe and beckoned athletes and celebrities from around the world.
It is Jea’s understanding of the industry and anticipation of needs that allowed him to transition from the competition arena to the luxury market.
“The world has changed, and the gym consumer is now much more sophisticated,” said Jung. “The high volume experience is a huge turn off for the new generation of members, and people are seeking high value in their fitness experience.”
The capped membership means that Kilo Club stops selling memberships at a predetermined number. And for his 21 and over customers, that idea has resonated.
“No crowds, no kids, and luxury amenities,” Jung continued. “It’s not for everyone, but our community of members appreciate this business model.”
Since opening in September 2019, Kilo Club has tripled the amount of equipment, built an MMA room with a variety of classes, added med spa services, and hit membership capacity within 6 months. All this plus hand-crafted custom artwork from Thailand, which caps off this locally owned new era fitness experience.
