Lucky for us our contributing photographer, Debbie McFarland of The Studio at Daisy Hill, had started highlighting Quiet Hometown Heroes and we wanted to share two of them with you; Julie Bailey and Angela McNulty. Detergent for Shelters

The Northwest Exterminating Good Deed Team has been donating homemade laundry detergent to domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, school pantries, and other local organizations since 2015 when they recognized a need for laundry detergent in these locations. To date, the team has donated over 100 gallons of detergent.

The shelter-in-place order has allowed the team to work with local school administrations and local community resource centers. Families are not only in need of food, but supplies, like laundry detergent, as well.

Hot Meals for Hospital Workers

Angela McNulty of PTC has been collecting money to purchase food from local restaurants to provide hot meals for hospital workers. "As a career woman, I understand the financial impact on small businesses. Plus, there are some fabulous eateries in this area. If we don't help them, they won't come back. I also wanted to nourish the hospital staff with really awesome hot meals to nourish their bodies AND their spirits." To contribute to Angela’s cause, go to gofundme.com and search Meals for Piedmont Healthcare.

Nurse, Manager Piedmont Fayette Hospital

Every day, Julie Bailey puts on her mask and heads into work at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. "I do not see myself as a hometown hero but I do represent them,” says Julie humbly. "I represent our patient care technicians who put in endless hours caring for patients. I represent the Cath lab technicians who work all hours of the day and night saving lives. I represent our nurses who are the ones with patients the longest. We all step up to support each other so the patients get the best care possible."
