Dark circles are definitely frustrating and common in men and women. They make you look older than your actual age, and they're difficult to get rid of.
There are many things that cause dark circles under your eyes.
- Lack of Sleep – Sleep deprivation can make your under eye skin look really dull. Staying up for long hours can build fluids under your eye, which creates puffiness.
- Dehydration – When you don't drink enough water, your skin and eyes start to look dull and tired. Water carries minerals and vitamins, which are essential for skin to look healthy.
- Overexposure to sunlight – Too much exposure to direct sunlight can cause discoloration and pigmentation under your eye, which can cause dark circles.
- Screen time – Long working hours on a computer screen can cause dryness, strain and discomfort for your eyes, and as a result, you can develop dark circles.
But not all is lost! There are some very simple, effective tools available on the market to help you with your dark circles. I routinely use Derma rollers one to two times per week to cure my dark circles.
What is Micro Needling at Home or Derma Roller?
Micro needling gives tiny (and usually painless) injuries to the skin, triggering it to boost collagen and thicken to heal itself. You can get this done at a dermatologist or buy an at-home product. If you decide to do it at home, be sure to apply a serum before and after using.
To get started, you’ll first need to prep your skin. Begin with cleanser and you can opt to apply serum. Next, glide the derma-roller across each area of your face vertically, horizontally and diagonally, repeating each direction twice. Then apply layer of serum or aloe vera gel for added hydration and comfort.
Once you’re finished micro needling, be sure to apply some rubbing alcohol over the roller to clean the device. Then, store the derma roller in its case. This at-home treatment is a much more affordable alternative compared to an in-office visit.
