Rolex & Ben Bridge: A Timely Match

Rolex—a Swiss watch manufacturer that has earned an unrivalled reputation worldwide for quality and expertise—has launched several new timepieces this year. Like all Rolex watches, which are assembled by hand with the utmost care to ensure exceptional quality, these new offerings satisfy performance criteria that exceed standards in terms of precision, water-proofness, self-winding and power reserve.

Oyster Perpetual Latest Creations

The Oyster Perpetual collection was built on the success of the original Oyster model, which was patented by Rolex and launched in 1926 as the world’s first waterproof wristwatch. Over the years, the Oyster featured other innovations, such as the world’s first self-winding mechanism with a Perpetual rotor that defined the identity of the models in the collection and forged Rolex’s reputation for excellence, of which chronometric precision and reliability are among the cornerstones.

The newest generation features the Oyster Perpetual 41, as well as versions of the Oyster Perpetual 36, displaying dials in vivid colors: candy pink, turquoise blue, yellow, coral red and green. One version has a configuration of a silver, sunray-finish dial that is punctuated with hands and hour markers in 18-ct yellow gold, and a second version features a bright black, sunray-finish dial and hands and hour markers in 18-ct white gold.

Oyster Perpetual Submariner & Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date

Rolex has also introduced the new generation of its Oyster Perpetual Submariner and Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date, which exemplify the historic links between Rolex and the world of diving. Both timepieces now feature a redesigned, slightly larger 41-mm case and are fitted on a remodeled bracelet.

Two versions of the Submariner Date, one in Oystersteel and the other in 18-ct white gold, feature distinctive color combinations, with the dial and Cerachrom insert in different hues. One option blends a black dial with a green bezel, and the second features a black dial and a blue bezel.

Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31

The Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31 features a white Rolesor version (combining Oystersteel and 18-ct white gold) and offers dials in a variety of colors, with either index hour markers or Roman numerals made of 18-ct white gold.

This year, Rolex is introducing four new white Rolesor versions of this timepiece, including a watch that features a bezel set with 46 brilliant-cut diamonds, as well as an aubergine, sunray-finish dial adorned with a diamond-set Roman VI. The three other versions are fitted with a mint green, sunray-finish dial, white lacquer dial, or dark grey, sunray-finish dial, and a fluted bezel in 18-ct white gold. The hands and index hour markers or Roman numerals on all four watches are set in 18-ct white gold. The light reflections on the case sides and lugs highlight the elegant profile of the 31-mm Oyster case.

Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller

The new Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller is fitted with an Oysterflex bracelet for the first time. The high-performance elastomer bracelet on this 18-ct yellow gold version is equipped with an Oysterclasp and Rolex’s Glidelock extension system for enhanced comfort on the wrist and sports a bright black, sunray-finish dial with hands and hour markers in 18-ct yellow gold. The light reflections on the case sides and lugs highlight the refined profile of the 42-mm Oyster case.

Additionally, this new version comes with a fluted, rotating bezel unique to the Sky-Dweller, which is used to set the watch in conjunction with the Ring Command system. The piece also includes a Chromalight display in which the hands and hour markers are coated or filled with a luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions.

Rolex & Ben Bridge

The newest creations continue the vision and legacy of Rolex Founder Hans Wilsdorf, inventor of the first waterproof wristwatch called the Oyster. More than 100 years later, Hans’ philosophy is more present than ever, from the manufacturing of the company's watches to its commitments worldwide.

The relationship between Hans and Sam Silverman—the founder of Ben Bridge—began in the 1910s when many people were carrying pocket watches on chains. At the time, Hans was intrigued by the idea that a light, reliable and stylish watch could be worn on the wrist. Meanwhile, Sam was maintaining pocket watches for train conductors as he and his family settled in Seattle and opened the store front, Silverman Jewelers.

In the early 1920s, Sam’s daughter married Ben Bridge, who was encouraged by his new father-in-law to join him at Silverman Jewelers, which was later renamed Silverman-Bridge. When Sam retired, ownership passed on to Ben, who renamed the store Ben Bridge Jeweler.

Three decades later in Europe, Rolex had earned a reputation for “technical craftsmanship” and “uncompromising quality”—becoming a style icon. Meanwhile in Seattle, after opening a second location in Bremerton, Washington, and running the business for 25 years, Ben passed the helm of Ben Bridge Jeweler to his sons, Bob and Herb.

Determined to grow the Ben Bridge legacy, Ben’s sons searched for craftsmen and materials with uncompromising quality and undeniable style, which led them to Rolex. When they developed a partnership in 1973, Rolex became a prominent feature at Ben Bridge locations across the west.

Today, these watches are available at Ben Bridge Jeweler stores at The Oaks in Thousand Oaks, (805.446.7911), Westfield Topanga in Canoga Park (818.346.2393) and other select locations in California and the West Coast.
