Boys & Girls Club Presents 19th Annual Unity & Community Gala

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Conejo Valley is celebrating its 20th Anniversary at the Westlake Village Four Seasons on Sunday, September 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. The 19th Annual Unity & Community Gala will be black tie and is a premiere event not to be missed.

The event was sold out, but a handful of additional tickets and tables have been made available for sale with the lifting of restrictions in California. Get your tickets and tables now to secure a spot. Seating will be made according to level of sponsorship and time received. Those who are vaccinated will be allowed to enjoy the event mask-free!

The premiere gala at the Four Season Hotel Westlake Village includes opportunities to support Clubs and youth programs through live and silent auctions as well as “Stand Up for Kids” scholarships.

Sponsorships are critical to the success of this fundraising event. As such, Jeff and Karen Johnston are the exclusive Event Co-Sponsors in partnership with BGCGCV and Karen is the 2021 Gala Chair.

“The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Conejo Valley is a bit of a “family business” for us. My father-in-law is the founding chair of our community chapter, my husband has been on the Board of Governors for 15+ years. He recently took a turn as Chair,” says Karen. “All four of our children have worked/volunteered for the various Clubs through their high school and college years. It seems like it is my turn to step up and be part of the Johnston Legacy. We are so very excited to be hosting our Gala in the best post-pandemic fashion. Our annual Gala is truly a community celebration and I am so glad we are back!”

Our Diamond Sponsors to date include Amoroso Companies, Mark and Linda Bagaason, David and Linda Catlin, Crawford Wealth Management, Steven Dorfman, Tim and Joni English, Cantor Fitzgerald, Ken Fields and Greenberg Glusker, LLP, Jack and Betty Gleason, Cal and Marje Johnston, Jim and Cathie Post, Amer Soudani, Gary and Susan Stephani, UnitedHealthcare and WDC Kitchen & Bath.

In 2020, BGCGCV stayed open and focused on doing everything to support our youth, families and employees coping with, and emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic stronger and more resilient. When schools and businesses were forced to close, the Clubs extended their hours, staffing and financial support to members and their families, as well as provided supplemental education to prevent learning loss to our virtual learners. Trained staff members implemented social-emotional learning (SEL) when working with youth by paying close attention to stress and anxiety of our members and their families and teaching them how to be self-aware and self-manage their emotions with a growth mindset. This is an opportunity for BGCGCV to honor the heroes of 2020 and their 20th Anniversary!
