Al Fresco Ambiance

Update Your Outdoor Space with Thousand Oaks Fireside and Design

With the holiday season upon us, many are considering innovative ways to barbecue for guests outside, as well as creating ideal outdoor spaces for holiday gatherings.

At Thousand Oaks Fireside and Design—which offers the finest in fireside, hearth and barbecue products and equipment—“we pride ourselves in the service we give our clientele,” says Manager Thomas Malinowski, who has been involved in the hearth, barbecue and casual furniture industry for about 40 years in Thousand Oaks.

“While we ultimately are in the business of selling our goods and services, we know that an extremely high level of customer service combined with the best product lines available is a winning combination for success,” Malinowski emphasizes. “In order to get repeat business from our customers, we know that an enjoyable and pleasant experience has to be our very goal whether we are outfitting a whole house or selling a small item.”

Serving areas from Santa Barbara to Agoura and Malibu to Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks Fireside and Design is part of a three-store operation, which includes Encino Fireplace Shop and Floyd S. Lee Fireplace in Pasadena.

Malinowski notes that their premium hearth product lines include Heat n Glo fireplaces, Heatilator fireplaces, Flare fireplaces, Montigo fireplaces, Modern Flame and Dimplex electric fireplaces, and Rasmussen gas logs and accessories.

“We also carry Prism Hardscape, Pyromania and The Outdoor Plus outdoor gas fire pits.”

In addition to the traditional wood-burning and new and efficient direct-vent gas fireplaces, electric fireplaces are becoming increasingly popular due to the environment and ease of installation.

“These fireplaces are getting more realistic each time a new model comes out,” says Malinowski, noting that they are available as traditional or linear modern models. “They are a far cry from the old orange lightbulb and rotating foil drum that used to be on the market. Some communities are being built as all electric communities, so it is nice to have an electric fireplace line to offer these customers.”

When it comes to the “outdoor room,” this is a concept that has been thriving for quite some time.

“The idea of converting extra square footage outdoors as livable space is very popular and dramatically increases a home’s value,” explains Malinowski, whose business also specializes in designing and building outdoor kitchens.

Their barbecue product lines include Twin Eagles grills, Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet, Luxor grills, Delta Heat grills, Kamado Joe ceramic cookers, Alfa pizza ovens, and Mr. BBQ accessories.

“Some are as simple as a small island with a grill and access doors, and some rival any chef’s professional cooking space," Malinowski says. “We sell high-quality lines that offer virtually anything you could find in an indoor kitchen—cook tops, teppanyaki griddles, warming drawers, refrigeration, ice makers, beer keg taps…it is exciting for us to help develop a concept from a customer’s kitchen desires and put it into a 3-D graphics program and drop images of the actual brand of products into the island and show the customer what their island kitchen will look like.”

Thousand Oaks Fireside and Design is also involved in helping the community in other ways.

For instance, “we have been instrumental in helping the Thomas and Woolsey Fire victims make purchasing decisions in their re-builds,” Malinowski says. “These customers are facing a number of decisions in re-building their homes, so informing them of the myriad styles and sizes of fireplaces that are available and assessing their needs alleviates a little stress from the project. Customers often leave saying, ‘that was the easiest purchase in this whole project’.”

While the current health crisis certainly has made being in business challenging, “we have experienced a demand for our products and services as people are spending an inordinate amount of time at home,” Malinowski says.

As other options of activity, travel and lifestyle are not available, “people are turning to remodeling and redesigning parts of their homes,” he says. “Demand for all our products has been very high and some lead times have been extended due to the products’ popularity presently.”

Above all, “a beautiful showroom, great products and a genuine desire and excitement that our team has in achieving our customers’ goals makes for a great buying experience at Thousand Oaks Fireside and Design.”
