The Mother's Day Gift Guide

Local shops recommend their top gifts to get mom for her day.

Spring has officially sprung!  And with spring comes Mother’s Day and opportunities to get out and shop local to dazzle Mom with something unexpected. But how to choose? Three local businesses have come to the rescue and offered their favorite picks for great gifts for Mom.

Jenny Putnam is part of the family-owned and operated General Store. The General Store of Minnetonka is a large retail space that has many goods and gift ideas available.
Putnam recommends a “Build your own" mother’s necklace. These keepsakes can be customized with initial charms representing each child, birthstones, hearts, words, and charms that are uniquely meaningful to the recipient. Chains and charms come in both gold and silver to create an updated mother’s necklace that is sure to delight any mom.
She also recommends the Nora Fleming collection. The General Store offers a wide variety of base serving pieces like platters and bowls. They also have a full assortment of ‘minis’ which are individual add-ons to adorn your table for a festive holiday or special occasion. You can start small and help build mom’s collection from there over the years.

Dr. Laurel Martini, the co-founder of Vively Body Science, says their clinic philosophy is health and wellness with a service emphasis toward clinical aesthetics. Vively is offering a Mother’s Day/May HydraFacial promotion as well as gift cards with a bonus.
HydraFacials are customizable and great for every age. Give the special mother in your life the gift of rejuvenation and relaxation. For the HydraFacial, Vively includes a complimentary ‘Perk treatment’ (lip or eye) ($50 value) with every Classic HydraFacial, or two ‘Perk treatments’ (both lip & eye) ($100 value) with a Signature HydraFacial.
Alternatively, if you want to let mom select her own services, gift cards are a perfect choice. As an added bonus for Mother’s Day, Vively is offering $100 for mom with a bonus $10 for you, $250 for mom with $25 for you, or $500 for mom and $50 for you. You can treat mom and yourself!

Kristen Moline, chocolatier at Truffle Hill Chocolates, has two special gift offerings. Both sure to please Mom especially if she doesn’t have to share them.
A chocolate bark trio. The trio is a 1/2-pound box dressed with a ribbon featuring delicious ‘grown-up flavors’. The trio showcases the Orange Creme Pop: white Belgian chocolate, crispy rice & candied orange pieces, the Black Forest: 64 % dark Belgian chocolate, sour cherry swirl, topped with sweet cacao nibs & chewy dark cherries, and The Elvis: milk chocolate, marshmallow fluff swirl, topped with peanuts, dried banana bits & a hint of sea salt.
Truffle Hill also has a gift box featuring decadent champagne truffles. White chocolate and champagne truffles with lovely gold fleck make this an irresistible choice. This gift is also nice for all budgets (that means you teenagers!) but still very special.

Whether you haven’t been able to get together with Mom a lot this last year or have seen her non-stop, make this Mother’s Day stand out. Be thoughtful by shopping local and give her something from the heart. She deserves it.
