Facebook—we open it some days and just cringe from the negativity and controversy we see posted. Imagine my surprise when I saw a Facebook friend and his adorable, young family as they dressed up as dynamic duos each day. Their sense of humor is palpable, and their children's participation in their antics is truly admirable!
I spoke to Benjamin Burke, a fitness trainer for 16 years, and his wife Melissa, a behavioral therapist who works with autistic children, to understand the impetus for creating these daily images with their children, Kinsley (3 years) and Brayden (2 months). It started out as Benjamin was bored one day during the stay-at-home COVID-19 pandemic. A lover of the Joker series, he painted his daughter's face to be Harley Quinn and his own to be the Joker and then posted it in on Facebook. The post got quite a few 'likes' and after dressing up a few more times and growing a bigger following with each post, he said,
"Maybe I am onto something here. People are so flooded with inflammatory and volatile posts on social media, I though it was a way I could spread some positivity to others. And it was fun! Something we looked forward to doing each day."
No doubt you will enjoy this creative Chicago couple's adorable and hilarious dynamic duo posts as much as I have. We all need some laughter and positivity to diffuse the boredom and tension we may be experiencing. Kudos to this clever and sweet family! As for the cover photo, if you haven't guessed, it's Thelma & Louise!
