Just in time for Memorial Day, try out these two simple summer cocktails using fresh herbs and ingredients that you probably already have at home.

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is lounge outside on the patio, soak in the sunshine and sip a refreshing cocktail while my favorite music plays in the background. The Memorial Day holiday marks the start of summer, and I have found that one of the best remedies for the blistering temps is to cool down with a homemade cocktail. Use simple ingredients that you can oftentimes find in your refrigerator and try out these simple summer concoctions at home.

Cilantro Ginger Lime Highball

Highballs are some of the easiest cocktails to mix since it contains just two ingredients: your alcohol base and your soda mixer. I added a garnish of cilantro and lime to make it fancy. Try my recipe below, or get creative with other ingredients you have at home.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Clase Azul Tequila
  • ½ cup ginger ale
  • 1 lime
  • Cilantro

Directions:

Fill a tall glass with ice. Add tequila and top with ginger ale. Squeeze the juice of ¼ of lime and slowly stir. Garnish with remaining lime and a few sprigs of cilantro. Enjoy.

Blueberry Lemonade Spritz

This is the perfect drink to make for especially impressing others; it looks like there was a lot of effort into creating it, but you’ll find that it is super simple to make. This is one of my go-to recipes for the summer because you can use whatever juice you have in the refrigerator at that time to make a different version of this cocktail. Feel free to swap out for the brands you enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce Tito’s Vodka
  • 1 ounce ginger ale or lemon-lime soft drink
  • ½ cup Simply Lemonade with Blueberry
  • ¼ cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 sprig of mint

Directions:

Muddle the blueberries in a large glass. Add vodka and lemonade. Stir vigorously. Strain into a wine glass over ice and top with a splash of ginger ale or any carbonated beverage of your choice. Garnish with a mint. Enjoy.

Whatever you choose to make, be safe, relax and enjoy the summer one sip at a time!
