Enchanting homes happen when the right blend of builders, decorators and real estate agents combine their talents. This definitely was the case for the newly constructed house at 4613 Villa Green Drive in Green Hills.

Ryan Miller, principal of Nashville-based custom contracting and design firm Millworks, teams with his interior designer wife, Jami, to deliver custom-built residences that are innovatively inviting from the get-go. The Millers joined expertise with Lacey Newman and Jonathan Heard with PARKS Realty to offer the stunning Seven Hills home showcased here.

The house sits on an expansive 1-acre lot on a quiet street. But the calmness of the property is balanced by the vivacious joy of the house’s striking black-and-white accents, warm wooden wrappings, vaulted entry foyer, high-end lighting and large covered porch overlooking a tree-filled backyard.

Jami, who decorated the house, says she likes to produce clean, modern rooms with “a rustic, homey vibe.”

She and her husband collaborate on creating homes, with Ryan envisioning the structures and drawing all the plans from scratch.

“I like to think of a future home as giving the residents a place to build their own story,” says Ryan, who serves as the architect, project manager and new construction builder.

Jami says she and Ryan spend a great deal of time brainstorming and planning how people will function day-to-day in a home.

In the case of 4613 Villa Green Drive, Jami says they knew they just had to “let the backyard in,” so they designed all the features around the lot’s beautiful natural light and friendly climate.

Being a full-service contracting and design firm, Ryan says he develops houses tailored to suit the needs of lifestyles.

“When working with someone who wants to build a home, we take time to thoroughly understand their vision, filter through their ideas and tweak where necessary to make their dream a reality,” he says.

He says they excel in streamlining communication, collaboration and timeliness.

He even plans out hardscapes, patios and porch designs to mesh with a home’s ambiance.

“What sets Millworks apart from the industry norm is our attention to function. We see each project as unique, with our main focus on making functional look pretty. We strive to create spaces reflective of people’s lives,” Ryan says.

This 5,593-square foot brick house has many of those features, including a downstairs master bedroom, walk-in closets, five full bathrooms and two half bathrooms, a den fireplace, double vanities, a double oven, a wet bar and a three-vehicle garage.

The address is associated with Percy Priest Elementary, John T. Moore Middle School and Hillsboro Comp High School.

Decorating a home that’s on the market in ways that help strengthen the house’s innate personality often helps potential sellers predict whether they can see themselves existing in that residence.

Jami considers the staging of this Villa Green Drive residence as “cozy,” and she used many textures to keep that flow throughout the house. She says one of her favorite rooms is the eat-in kitchen where she feels it’s a relaxed but purposeful environment. Ryan gave the house stucco areas and exposed wooden beams to complement a sense of ease with sophistication.

Jami says a specific touch of baskets and bowls rounds out a more modern look while also providing places to store items, creating a room that's comfortable and realistically lived in.

“Decluttering is the biggest key when staging houses, along with neutralizing the color palettes,” says Jami, the owner of Blackbook, a residential staging and design firm in Nashville that specializes in higher-end furnishings.

She says the neutral type of furniture placed within this house was intentionally coupled with rugs that yield pops of color.

New construction specialist Lacey says it’s easy to collaborate with the Millers to provide a seamless, professional home-purchasing experience from beginning to end.

“Thanks to Ryan and Jami’s thoughtful construction and gorgeous interior staging, we had an unprecedented response from potential buyers when we listed it on the market, with over 25 showings and multiple offers in less than two weeks,” Lacey says.

She says buyers of new homes in Nashville are certainly leaning toward a more modern aesthetic than in years past.

“Millworks certainly accomplished the goal of creating a product that appeals to today’s Green Hills’ homebuyers at this price point.”

This property was listed at $1,895,000. New construction specialists and real estate consultants Lacey Newman and Jonathan Heard with PARKS Realty in Green Hills would be pleased to show other residences of this type and style.
