Classic tailored pieces in unexpected glam materials, from sequined blazers to silk tuxedos, are the biggest trends for fall. Neon colors will continue their reigns as the pop of color queens, and designers are getting more creative with mini bag materials and shapes. Slip dresses are still the silhouette of the moment, which I love because they are on-trend but timeless and so versatile. Shield sunglasses are officially back thanks to the return of Y2K style, and I am here for any iteration of it. My must-have item is a tie between stacked heel platform boots and a bejeweled nano bag.

This fall I am seeing a lot of tonal dressing, and caramel is going to be a key color. Chunky knitwear continues to be big, and so does oversized outerwear, such as bombers, blazers, and wrap coats all in larger, looser silhouettes. I also like to invest in one key, iconic piece each season. This year, I would recommend a classic trench coat or a trench-coat inspired piece. Look for cropped swing coats, vests, dresses and skirts all with double-breasted button detailing and in classic trench coat fabrics, such as cotton twill.

A few of the biggest trends that I am seeing for fall are tuxedo blazers (particularly a Le Smoking one because it’s chic, powerful and sophisticated), head-to-toe denim and faux fur. I’ve also noticed lots of shimmering pretty details, such as floral appliqués and sequins. The return of the classic LBD (little black dress) and power suits, which are always perfect staples to really make a statement, are back as well.

I’m a big believer in sticking to the classics. Trends come and go, so I try not to spend too much time focused on them, but there are certainly particular motifs and prints I gravitate towards. I have a hard time saying no to stripes, florals on everything, and bows. I’ve been seeing bows on the runway for fall, which makes me really excited. My must-have item is a smartly tailored blazer, like Veronica Beard’s Miller Dickey Blazer. I’ll throw it over a nice t-shirt and jeans for a girls’ lunch or jazz up a dress for a last-minute date with my husband.

Extend the life of your summer nap dresses by taking a page out of Diane Keaton’s book and layering with a turtleneck or chunky cardigan. Personally, I don’t think the coastal grandmother trend is going away anytime soon! I also see big tote bags making a comeback this fall and I’m here for it! We all know Greenwich has so many amazing upscale consignment shops (I LOVE Consigned Designs!), so check out those first to source your new bag for fall sustainably.

What are you gravitating towards this fall? I like big boots and I cannot lie. I will definitely be investing in a classic trench with a twist which was another huge runway trend, and another pair of wide-leg jeans to wear with my band tees and new trench.

Describe your personal style. Bohemian luxe with a little edge.

Favorite store in Greenwich to shop? Saks is my favorite hands down (hi Karolyn and Marla!). I also love Great Stuff for elevated basics.

Joanna

What are you gravitating towards this fall? I tend to gravitate towards classic, timeless pieces that look effortless as opposed to what’s trendy.  I think true style is knowing what looks and feels best on your individual body.

Describe your personal style. Classic with a twist.

Favorite store in Greenwich to shop? I love Frame for denim, Jenni Kayne for knits and Roberta Roller Rabbit for resort wear.

Mihaela

What are you gravitating towards this fall? A sharply tailored blazer and a versatile leather jacket that top off any outfit for that effortless polished look.

Describe your personal style. My style is eclectic, daring feminine, and effortless.

Favorite store in Greenwich to shop? I love Intermix for the newest trends and Consigned Designs for high-end pre-owned pieces.

Helen

What are you gravitating towards this fall? I always tend to gravitate towards trends that easily incorporate pieces I already own. For instance, I gravitate towards neutrals so I'm looking forward to planning lots of monochromatic caramel and sandy tone looks.

Describe your personal style. Classic, New England Coastal. I think these days people might categorize me as "coastal grandmother," but I've always been like this!

Favorite store in Greenwich to shop? Great Stuff and Veronica Beard!

Chanel

What are you gravitating towards this fall? Once the weather drops, I typically center my look around a great fitting pair of jeans, a cashmere sweater (I really like J.Crew and Aqua from Bloomies), and suede tall boots, that I can rotate and mix-and-match. Each season, I allow myself to invest in one high-value statement item, like a classic pair of Stuart Weitzman boots.

Describe your personal style. Traditional and feminine. I've always admired the effortless nature of style icons like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. Kate Middleton is also someone I look to for inspiration in our modern age.
Favorite store in Greenwich to shop? After moving from NYC, I thought I’d miss the shopping experience the city offers, but Greenwich Avenue has an incredible roster of stores! Veronica Beard is lovely for tailored feminine pieces, and J.Crew always has the essentials.

“Remember, you don't need to create the ‘perfect Fall wardrobe’ overnight - identify those novelty pieces you’ll truly love, even 5 years from now.” – Chanel
