A bright, beautiful smile draws people in and can really change the look of a person and can instill confidence of oneself as well. There are many ways to enhance our smile after that initial teeth cleaning.  For some that is an a teeth-whitening touch-up while for others that is a comprehensive smile design using Invisalign or porcelain veneers.

One thing sat the forefront of Dr. Tsangaroulis’ practice is a collaborative approach that blends a patient’s input with the expertise of the cosmetic dentist.  He listens to his patients’ needs and desires, allowing them to be hands-on. This means that Dr. Tsangaroulis will take a conservative approach to ensure that not only is a patient happy, but they are only receiving work that they need.  For some patients that may mean getting Invisalign and teeth whitening because they are happy with the shape and size of their teeth. For patients that are dissatisfied with the shape of their teeth or have chipped them he will explore direct composite bonding or veneers. When working with a patient receiving veneers he uses digital smile design to allow the patient to see what he is envisioning for them.  After agreeing on the desired smile, a trial set is created so they can be “test driven”.  

Through all of these steps Dr. Tsangaroulis works to keep his patients happy and healthy. One additional feature to the care received is that jaw joints and muscles are all tested before any procedure is done.  Dr. Tsangaroulis knows that one of the most important thing to maintaining veneers or straight teeth after Invisalign for decades is to address any jaw issues first.  If any issues are found they are treated before moving forward, usually with something as simple as a night guard.  This ensures that all patients will be happy with their fabulous smile for many years to come.

Tips to keep that smile healthy at home:

1. Floss before you brush or better yet invest in a water pick. Not only is a water pick better than flossing, but it’s more fun!

2. Get yourself a good electric toothbrush.  Oral b and Sonic Care make the best ones and can help take your mouth to a next level clean.

3. Don’t clench your teeth.  We all have those moments when something stresses or angers us and you clench hard.  Try taking some deep breaths instead, this will not only be good for your teeth and jaw but for your mind.

4. Make your own at home whitener:

3% Hydrogen Peroxide 1/2 teaspoon

Baking soda 1 teaspoon

Coconut oil 1 tablespoon

This can be used to not only help whiten your teeth, but also promote healthier gums and improve your smile. Hydrogen peroxide even destroys coronavirus. Keep in mind that baking soda is mildly abrasive, so long-term use may not be advised, as it could have a detrimental effect on the enamel and gums especially if you scrub hard or use a coarse bristle toothbrush. Be sure to brush gently with light pressure using a soft or extra-soft toothbrush, or an electric brush.

Also keep in mind that if you have porcelain restorations or composite bonding, they will not whiten.
