Revitalization has recently come to the town of Waukomis, Oklahoma, a small farming community south of Enid, in the form of a whole new downtown city block.

The old, tired buildings that served the town had become dilapidated and worn and were an eyesore more than resourceful structures. Seeing this prompted Richard and Mo Anderson, well-known philanthropists and owner of Keller Williams Realty, to have a vision of restoring their home town where they grew up. They wanted to bring life back into the community, making it where people would want to go, gather, shop and celebrate weddings and family events.

That's when they reached out to Brent Gibson of Brent Gibson Classic Home Design of Edmond to help them design and plan an entire city block. Brent was eager and willing to take on the project and all that it entailed to help them achieve this goal.

After visiting Waukomis with Richard and seeing the town, Brent listened to Richard and Mo's vision for the new downtown and began work on the designs. During the design process, Brent called in his good friend and builder Brent Cornman of Brent Cornman Construction to assist and build the project for the Andersons. His background in commercial and custom homes was a perfect fit.

After a two-year build, the project is finished. The new downtown has a barber shop, restaurant, old-style drug store, an event meeting center and a beautiful turn-of-the-century style chapel for weddings.

A courtyard to the side is the perfect place for guests to gather and visit with food and live entertainment while the building next to it is designed for small apartments that guests to stay in while in town.

Thanks to the vision and the design, Waukomis has become a perfect getaway for the weekend or for any time. Come see how this town has changed with its new look. For information on reservations for the wedding chapel and event center, contact Grace Dwyer manager of Buffalo Junction at 580-758-1600 or gracedwyersells@gmail.com.
